Humboldt County, Nth California coast, a 2 needle pine with blue-green foliage, very prickly cones that remain closed on the tree until fire or strong heat causes them to open. Withstands salt laden winds, drought and healthier than P. radiata in Westland's wet climate. Timber marketed with radiata pine.

Origin Mexico in the mountains. Seed collected from evrgreen A. jorrullensis we supplied 40 years ago and now pollinated with nearby deciduos A. acuminata, producing vigorous deciduous hybrids.
