P.deltoides x nigra. Upright crown and heavier stem for timber production. Smooth bark as a young tree, does well in wet sheltered valleys and on dry windy hillsides. Rust resistant. Recommended for the east of the North Island. Cuttings at 40cm ("40-60cm" grade). Rooted plants topped at 1.2m ("90-1.2m" grade) or 1.5m ("1.2-1.5m" grade).
