A Mexican white oak Ht 10m
A smaller deciduous white oak, widespread across dry rocky soils at 2300-2700 m. Dark green leathery leaves up to 40cm, long with a few shallow teeth. Hardy acorns could be useful for wildlife.

Broadly spreading, evergreen. Dark green shiny leaves 6-12cm long. Twigs red. Small white flowers on 25cm spreading racemes. Red to black cherries in Feb/Mar. Good screening tree and popular hedging plant. Cold hardy, tolerates lime.
PLANTING INSTRUCTIONS: Handle promptly on arrival DO NOT let the roots dry out. If potting, press the potting medium firmly around each plant. Water after potting and regularly for 10 days. especially during dry windy weather. Put under shadecloth if possible. Bushy grey-green stout branched compact shrub. Leaves leathery 2-4cm long, dark green, white beneath, margins upcurved, wavy. Flowers daisy-like furry with yellow radiating petals in single or small clusters Jan & Feb.
Naturally uncommon. Growing on limestone cliffs around Castlepoint, Wairarapa. Withstands strong, drying and salt laden winds, an attractive shrub.

Broadly spreading, deciduous. A tough hedgerow and woodland tree. Popular for trimmed formal hedges. The timber is very hard and used for turnery. Yellow autumn colour. We also recommend Fagus sylvatica as a good alternative for a clipped hedge. 2 year olds - HEDGE spacing 30-60cm
