Broadly spreading, deciduous. Larger leaves than C. kousa. White flower bracts very showy and last twice as long as C. florida. Compound fruits pinky-red food for birds. Autumn colours are variable - purplish to bright red.

Nth America. Suckering deciduous shrub, young shoots yellow to olive green, very effective in winter particularly when planted with red-stemmed dogwoods. Ideal for moist situations.

Selected clone of this NZ hybrid with attractive brown leaves, evergreen. Masses of tiny yellow star shaped flowers, then red berries for the birds. Can be clipped as a hedge. Withstands exposure and coastal conditions. For a low hedge of between 50cm – 1m we recommend you plant them 30cm – 50cm apart. For a hedge of between 1m – 2m we recommend planting them 50cm – 1m apart.

Form from the Mangitangi dam in the Hunua Ranges. Very fine light green leaves, small star-like yellow flowers in summer, followed by yellow fruit. Good for clipped hedging.
